Biographies
Jack M. Swickard
JACK M. SWICKARD was a newspaper reporter, editor and general manager for 32 years, taking time out for 4 years to fly helicopters in the U.S. Army.
From February 1967-February 1968, Swickard was a pilot with the 118th Assault Helicopter Company stationed at Bien Hoa, Republic of Vietnam. During his year in Vietnam, he was awarded 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Bronze Star Medal, 23 awards of The Air Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
On his return from Vietnam, he served as adjutant of the 155th Aviation Battalion at Robert Gray Army Airfield, Fort Hood, Texas.
After leaving the Army, Swickard returned to The Albuquerque (New Mexico) Tribune as a reporter. He later was promoted to city editor, where he was in charge of the newspaper’s local coverage.
In 1974, he was named editor of the Roswell Daily Record in Roswell, New Mexico. Fifteen years later, he became editor, then editor-general manager of The Daily Times in Farmington, New Mexico.
Swickard returned to Roswell in 1996 as general manager of the Roswell Daily Record.
In 2000, he launched his own public relations consulting company, The Triton Group Inc., in Roswell. The company specializes in public policy, international police, and national defense issues.
He was inducted into the New Mexico Press Association Hall of Fame in 2004.
Michael R. Bush
MIKE BUSH is a Roswell native and former editor of the Roswell Daily Record. He received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in journalism from New Mexico State University in 1975 and a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980. In addition to his stint as editor of the Daily Record, he was editor of the Foothills News, a weekly newspaper in Yuma, Ariz. He is an ordained Baptist minister and is pastor of Trinidad Community Baptist Church in Roswell. He lives in Roswell with his wife, Shala. He has two children, Jennifer Foster of Manor, Texas, and Jonathan Bush of Roswell.
Sunny Aris
Jules M. Swickard
One of the original web designers, his work has been featured on NBC News and by more than a dozen major newspapers. He is the President and founder of In-Hand Software, teaches digital photo editing and web design on cruise ships, and is a cruise ship lecturer on technology. On land, he teaches digital photo editing and photography classes.
Jules is a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel who lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. He’s an award-winning photographer who has won the USAF Photo Contest. His travel photos are available commercially through iStockPhoto.
Jennifer Foster
Jennifer Foster is a freelance graphic designer with more than six years of experience in print design and advertising, product packaging, video production and Web design. She has developed multimedia product and client-branding campaigns; original layout for local magazines and trade publications; and campaign materials and Web sites for several successful New Mexico political campaigns.
Jennifer graduated with a B.F.A. in painting from New Mexico State University in 2002. She currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her husband Jeremy and son Iain.
