The ENMU-Roswell Theatre Department will present Metamorphoses, Nov. 13-15 in the Performing Arts Center on campus.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 13-14 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 15. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and ENMU-Roswell students will be admitted free. A free Friends and Family night presentation will also be held Nov. 12.
Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses received the 2002 Tony Award for Best Director and was also nominated for Best Play and Best Scenic Design.
The play is based on David R. Slavitt’s translations of The Metamorphoses of Ovid and brings Ovid’s tales to stunning visual life. Set in and around a large pool of water onstage, the story juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image to reflect the variety and persistence of narrative in the face of inevitable change.
Metamorphoses played around the country and Off Broadway before moving to Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre in March 2002.
