ARTESIA — Roswell wrapped up its last road game prior to the state tournament with an easy 89-51 victory over Artesia Tuesday.

Playing what coach Britt Cooper called “a real solid ballgame,” the Coyotes (19-2, 2-0) jumped out to a 29-15 first-quarter lead, then stretched that to 48-28 at the half and 67-40 after three.

A.J. Peralta “had a real strong game,” tallying a game-leading 29 points, including 17 in the first quarter.

Deyton De La Cerda tallied 16 while Ryan Montoya came off the bench to score 13.

“He had a really good fourth quarter,” Cooper said.

Although he was in foul trouble most of the night, Keydrick Allen still scored 11 while Marek Olesinski had eight; Jordan Wiggins seven; Matthew Singleton three; and Robert Orona two.

Ryan Elkins led the Bulldogs (11-12, 0-2) with 16.

“It was a pretty good, solid game for everyone,” Cooper said, noting that once again, everyone saw time on the floor. “I was pretty pleased with the effort. We had a couple of defense lapses there in the second quarter, but other than that I can’t complain. Real solid game on the road.”

The Coyotes come home to face Clovis Friday in what Cooper said will  “be a good test for us,” then closes out the regular season Feb. 16 vs. Goddard and Feb. 19 against the Bulldogs.
